An exciting and eventful year is drawing to a close for red dot and we would like to thank all those who have contributed to making 2008 the red dot design award’s most successful year to date.

Some 80 red dot award-winning products from 19 countries, more than 30,000 visitors and a successful presence in a world market with future potential – the red dot exhibition “Design on stage – Index presents red dot winners” at the Index 2008 in Dubai was a complete success. For five days the red dot-winning companies presented themselves on the largest stand at the fair.

With a design agency of the year, a red dot cinema and more guests than ever before, there were lots of new developments at this year’s award ceremony for the ‘red dot award: communication design’. The entire evening inspired and impressed around 800 creative artists from the design industry. One of the special highlights of the evening was the presentation of the ‘red dot: design agency of the year’ title to Strichpunkt, which was present on stage to receive its prize, the ‘Stylus’ challenge cup. As of now, interested design students will have the opportunity to take an exciting and eventful look behind the scenes of one of the most prestigious international design competitions. For the adjudication of the red dot award: product design 2009, red dot is looking for four volunteers who will support the project organisation team from 19 January to 13 March 2009. On Friday 28 November 2008, Singapore’s creative scene celebrated the winners of this year’s red dot award: design concept. In the impressive atmosphere of the red dot design museum in Singapore the proud winners were honoured in a spectacular awards presentation in the presence of more than 400 international guests from the design industry. One of the evening’s highlights was the performance of musician Timothy O’Dwyer, who created two spectacular pieces especially for the awards presentation.

With 80 products from 19 countries, red dot will be present from December 3 to 7, 2008 at the exhibition ‘Design on stage – Index presents red dot winners’ at ‘Index 2008’, the world’s largest interior design trade fair in the Middle East and Asia. Over 30,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend the fair, and the “red dot” winners in the exhibition will be showcased over a four-day period.
