red dot takes off with new competition in Asia
red dot goes Asia! Asia is a region of the future: It is vibrant with energy, hosts an enormous reservoir of creativity and innovative ideas – and the new “red dot award: design concept,” which promotes excellence in design visions for the future.
As the first category of the renowned “red dot design award,” the new “red dot award: design concept” is organised in Singapore, since growth in Asia is very fast and Singapore, as a geographical, economic and cultural centre in Asia, is the ideal location for a competition that recognises and distinguishes design visions and innovative concepts.
What makes the new competition special
The new “red dot award: design concept” centres not - as the name already suggests – on products that are already on the market. Instead, it centres on ideas and visions that are new, creative and exciting. The new competition distinguishes truly creative achievements and thus pays tribute to the high potential of young, up-and-coming creative talents, designers and design companies around the world.
This is a great opportunity for you to submit design concepts that are not constrained by market demands, client requirements or their ability to manufacture. The competition is only about your ideas and visions!
Platform for up-and-coming design talents and businesses
The new competition will provide the important link between the new generation of creative designers and companies. It offers talented designers from around the world the chance to present their creative visions and new concepts, to compete with others on an international level, and to distinguish themselves by receiving an award for their talent and high potential in innovation. The award does not have separate categories for students and professionals. This gives students the opportunity to compete directly with the professionals and even design teams. Winning the red dot means standing out in the mass of thousands of competitors and thus to attract company and industry attention.
International jury
An international jury is the guarantee both of top-level expertise and of scrupulous impartiality. The jury members of this year’s “red dot award: design concept” are: Werner Aisslinger, Leimei Julia Chiu, Luigi Ferrara, Tapani Hyvonen, Ron Nabarro, Thomas Cheng, Marek Grabowski, and Tham Khai Meng. The jury will adjudicate the concepts in Singapore in August. The highlight of the competition will be the festive award ceremony in Singapore in November 2005. The exhibition of all award-winning concepts in the competition will also be opened on the same evening.

What are your visions?
Designers, agencies, design studios, design professionals, students as well as research laboratories and inventors from anywhere in the world are invited to take part in the “red dot award: design concept.” All kinds of innovations and novelty designs that are not yet in the market are eligible for submission.
