The time of experimentation is over
Stretched forms and a new discreet play of lines result in a new type of elegance. The car body shapes have undergone a clear change: Out of the angular, rectangular forms of the eighties the soft curves of the nineties developed. These were later extended with angular forms again, which led to an experimental play with the lines of the side view. Currently round forms are stretched and the play with lines has become calmer.
Colours, materials and forms evoke emotion Since cars are on the same high technical level today, another type of differentiation has to be found. In the automobile industry this happens via design. With colours, forms, and materials emotions are evoked.
Colours Colours are one form of differentiation. They clearly determine a car’s character and are a means to code belonging. The classical colours black, blue, and silver remain, with silver differentiating. The classical car body colour has developed from a darkened stone grey to a metallic sand hue. The range of colours includes a new spectrum of warm hues from champagne or beige to a warm brown. These colours have been borrowed from the furniture as well as the fashion industry.
Materials The current development in interior design is towards discreetness. Carbon inlays borrowed from racing are only found occasionally. Aluminium, which stands for sportiness, is used for emphases. The high-quality classiness of noble leathers and warm woods stands for international elegance and luxury. Another striking feature is the high-quality workmanship with regards to upholstery stitching and seams. Our picture gallery “Colours and Materials” provides you with current examples:

Cars’ faces The front is one of the most important design elements of a car, a brand and a brand identity. The faces range from childish, happy faces with large saucer eyes, which are a product of the retro design trend, to aggressive, dangerous-looking faces with Asian-looking predator-like cats eyes.
