Pure Austrian Design Goes International

PureAustrianDesign Landing in Prague and Barcelona 
After the First Pure Austrian Design Landing in August 2005 in Bregenz the studio JULAND BarcelonaVienna presents a “State-of-the-Art“–Show of Austrian design creations in Prague and Barcelona this autumn.

On the occasion of the seventh Czech design fair Designblok in Prague the PureAustrianDesign exhibition took place from 04 until 09 October 2005. According to the motto: “We talk about the culture of design in Austria“ furniture and lamps as select pieces of design of the Austrian industrial sector of furniture and of the ambitious generation of Austrian designers were presented in Czechia.
 
Embedded in a modern ambience, especially designed for this purpose by JULAND BarcelonaVienna, select pieces of design created by established Austrian furniture manufacturers and aspiring designers were presented to an international public, as Andrés Fredes and Julia Taubinger from JULAND BarcelonaVienna say, who were responsible as curators for the exhibition.
 
The multimedia exhibition was complemented by video installations and a soundtrack of current Austrian music from the electronic sector which was already included in the audio CD “AudioFurniture”. This CD was also attached to the book “Pure Austrian Design”. A special area of the exhibition space, the Austria Lounge, allowed the visitor to take a seat on Austrian design furniture in a pleasant atmosphere und to delve into the most various aspects of design and contemporary culture in Austria in written and vision.
 
Besides the cultural framework programme PureAustrianDesign also presented panel discussions with representatives from design, politics and industry.
Since nobody can exist in the export sector without good design, as the president of the Austrian furniture industry Markus Wiesner emphasised, and since the Austrian design culture is to be promoted and consolidated by all means, it is now the time to introduce PureAustrianDesign to an international public.
 
Another landing of PureAustrianDesign will take place from 27 October until 12 November 2005 in the recently renovated rooms of the Catalan Design Association FAD in the centre of Barcelona.
