Grand Prix: “An extraordinary form for an extraordinary life“
This year’s Grand Prix, worth Euro 10,000, for the best work from the more than 3,000 entries, goes to the Swiss Nestro AG for their concept design of the biography “Die mutige Pionierin – Warda Bleser-Birchers Jahrhundert” (The courageous pioneer – The century of Warda Bleser-Bircher).
“The biography ’The courageous pioneer’ describes the extraordinary life of the geologist and palaeontologist Warda Bleser-Bircher, who is one hundred years old now, in a likewise extraordinary way. The design supports the interweaving as well as the structuring of the different pieces of information at the same time and forms an original contrast to the history of a hundred years, which shall in this way also be made more accessible for the younger generations,” says Professor Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award and president of the world umbrella organisation of design ICSID, explaining the jury’s selection. The prize-money of Euro 10,000 for the winner of the red dot: grand prix has been sponsored by the Essen-based company Krenzler Graf Biermann oHG.
Another two outstanding works were nominated for the red dot: grand prix: “decodeunicode” by the Faculty of Design, University of Applied Sciences Mainz, and the Porsche promotional film “Trotzdem” (nevertheless) by Klaus E. Küster advertising agency, Frankfurt on Main.
