Less – pure functionalism

Complete reduction creates refined designs. Colours, forms and materials are reduced to the essentials and are thus particularly emphasised.

Clear forms, bright colours
The forms of this style are reduced, clear and geometric; they offer a visual calm. The colours’ austerity reduces the conciseness of the form. However, a trend to a specific colour is not exactly discernible; rather, the common factor lies in the colours’ special luminosity.

Intelligent material combinations and an emphasis on craftsmanship
Quality of materials and craftsmanship plays an increasingly important role in the field of furniture; and in the processing of materials the craftsmanship and its exclusiveness are further emphasised. This development can also be interpreted as a reaction to cheaply produced mass products.

The value of the products is reflected in cubic furniture with high-gloss surfaces, combined with chrome edges and chrome-plated frames, braided leather and combinations of wood and metal. Structured weave and structured plastic surfaces as well as embossed or smoked leather give the kinaesthetic quality a new level of meaning.
