Design and Passion - the Award Ceremony

In recent years, the award ceremony for the red dot award: product design has become more than just a triumphal parade for the competition winners. The day becomes an inspiration as the festivities extent into the small hours.

The special exhibition of this year’s award-winning products was opened in the red dot design museum on the afternoon of 30 June 2003. The presentation of the design team of the year displayed the achievements of the Nokia Design Team from California.

Thereafter, the scene shifted to Essen’s Aalto Theatre for the eighth time. Together with over 1,200 guests from industry, the design scene, culture and politics, the audience witnessed the presentation of the awards and cultural performances of top quality. The musical programme was provided by the Matthias Nadolny and Thomas Hufschmidt Duo. The aalto ballett theater presented “My Ithaca”, choreographed by Birgit Scherzer. From 8.30 p.m. to 2.00 a.m., the doors of the red dot design museum were once again opened for the winners’ dinner and the designer’s night.
