The product design competition has existed since 1955. Its award, the “red dot”, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the “red dot: best of the best” award.

The competition for design concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the red dot: luminary which includes prize money of $5,000.

The highest award in the communication design competition is the “red dot: grand prix” for the best work in a category. The “red dot: junior prize”, which includes prize money of 10,000 euros, will be awarded to the best student work.

Results of the "interzum award: intelligent material & design 2013" - jury of experts granted top award to just nine entries

When the Koelnmesse trade fair opens its doors from 13 to 16 May 2013, the international supplier industry for the furniture and interior decorating industries will meet once again at the “interzum cologne”. The companies presenting their selection of materials, locks, light systems and much more include numerous participants in the “interzum award: intelligent material & design 2013”. Design - consistently at the highest level: Lenovo was chosen as the "red dot: design team of the year 2013"

When it comes to the professional judgment of the latest product designs, the red dot jury proves a lot of endurance: 37 jury members of the “red dot award: product design 2013” had to assess a total of 4,662 entries. A special single award stands out every year, though. It is one of the most coveted awards in the world of design: the appointment for the “red dot: design team of the year”. In 2013, this honorary title, as announced at the Milan Design Week, goes to the Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo for its exemplary design work, which has been internationally successful for decades.
