The Product Design competition has existed since 1954. Its award, the Red Dot, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

The competition for Design Concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the Red Dot: Luminary which includes prize money of $5,000.

The highest award in the Communication Design competition is the “Red Dot: Grand Prix” for the best work in a category. The “Red Dot: Junior Prize”, which includes prize money of 10,000 euros, will be awarded to the best student work.

Red Dot Edition introduces its publishing programme at the Frankfurt Book Fair

After last year`s successful premiere, the specialist publisher Red Dot Edition is part of the Frankfurt Book Fair again. From 8 – 12 October 2014, the stall G94 in Hall 4.1 provides an overview on the latest trends in product and communication design – an outline of works, which were awarded a Red Dot thanks to their high quality. The art of origami looks back at a hundred-year-old tradition in Asia. The skilful folding of paper transforms it into two- and three-dimensional sculptures of authentic appearance. This art served as a source of inspiration for the NOM (Nature of Material) furniture series, which was developed by Bakery Studio from Israel for Italian manufacturer Cappellini. More »

What is game design? Everything – that’s what Daniel Budiman, presenter of the TV show Game One, would say. But how can we even describe “everything”? For German manufacturer Wiha Werkzeuge, Thomas Schandelmeier developed a magazine bit holder with an innovative opening mechanism. Via an easy-to-operate pressure lock, the user receives the correct bit simply through the push of a button. Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2014 - Creative highlights in Berlin

The dates for this year’s creative events by Red Dot in Berlin have been set. The design competition will be massively present in the Germany capital from 23 to 25 October as part of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2014. 3 questions to: Ora-ïto

Inspired by nature, French designer Ora-ïto skilfully played with the patterns of human perception when creating the dining table of the same name for the manufacturer Roche Bobois. Connected to the ground by three spiralled arms, the round tempered glass top of the Ora-ïto table seems as if it were moving and spinning upon itself.
