The Product Design competition has existed since 1954. Its award, the Red Dot, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

The competition for Design Concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the Red Dot: Luminary which includes prize money of SGD 5,000.

Award-winning design and its makers: the sofa “Uptown”

In February, 39 experts from all over the world convened in Essen to assess thousands of objects for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 in a process spanning several days. Only designs that won over the jury with their high design quality were awarded the sought-after distinction “Red Dot”, and the best of them received the highest award “Red Dot: Best of the Best” – among them: the sofa “Uptown” by Paola Lenti, designed by Francesco Rota. Award ceremony, after-show party and exhibition opening: Red Dot honours the best in the design industry

The event to honour the designers and manufacturers that have won the Red Dot this year will take place on 3 July 2017. Each year, the award ceremony in Essen’s Aalto-Theater and the after-show party in the Red Dot Design Museum attract hundreds of representatives of the world’s best brands and design offices to the Ruhr Region. Participants from all over the globe entered thousands of products in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 to have them evaluated by the jury. Those objects that won over the 39-member expert jury with their well thought-through design won a Red Dot, while the best products of the year received the highest award in the competition, the Red Dot: Best of the Best. More

Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 – submission only until 9 June

There is only one week left for agencies, designers and companies from around the world to enter their works and projects in the international Red Dot Award: Communication Design, which is being organised in 18 categories. A 24-member jury will evaluate every single entry individually and award the Red Dot seal exclusively to those who convince with good design quality and creativity. The final deadline is 9 June 2017. Award-winning design and its makers: “New Baraka – Building a Home with 30,000 People”

Once a year, the jury of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design honours projects of high design quality. Among the works which received a Red Dot: Best of the Best, the jury awards the Red Dot: Grand Prix. In 2016, the top individual award was granted to “New Baraka – Building a Home with 30,000 People”, designed by denkwerk from Cologne, Germany. More

With the sense of good communication design and creativity: the jury 2017 (part 3)

The heart of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is the jury. With its expertise, it assesses thousands of submissions each year on the basis of established criteria. In 2017, there are 24 globally recognised experts who meet in Essen, Germany, to jointly decide in a multi-day process about the awarding of the coveted label “Red Dot”. Some of these experts are repeatedly part of the jury. Among others Shu Chang Kung, Renne Angelvuo, Seung Hun Yoo and Jean Jacques Schaffner will select the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017. More
