The Product Design competition has existed since 1954. Its award, the Red Dot, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

The competition for Design Concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the Red Dot: Luminary which includes prize money of SGD 5,000.

The highest award in the Communication Design competition is the “Red Dot: Grand Prix” for the best work in a category. The “Red Dot: Junior Prize”, which includes prize money of 10,000 euros, will be awarded to the best student work.

The best in communication design – BBDO, Lenovo and Mister Spex

On 4 November 2016, the best of the best of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design will receive their trophies on stage of the Konzerthaus Berlin for their outstanding communication campaigns. Awarding ceremony of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2016 – Celebration of outstanding design achievements

On 22 September 2016, the highlight of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept was celebrated – the Red Dot Gala. In a glamorous atmosphere, the winners of the Red Dot: Best of the Best and the Red Dot: Luminary were honoured on the stage and catwalk of the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore. Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, and Ken Koo, President of Red Dot Asia handed over the trophies to the proud laureates. More

The winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 are chosen. In 21 categories, designers, marketing experts and communication professionals could demonstrate their know-how. But only the best managed to convince the Red Dot jury. Those include the Deutsche Bank, Born05 from the Netherlands and the UDG United Digital Group. More

Red Dot Award: participation phase for product design starts at the end of October 2016

On 24 October 2016, the registration period of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 will begin. With the help of a jury, the international competition appraises the top products of the year. Manufacturers and designers from all over the world submit originals of their latest products in the hope of being awarded the sought-after distinction “Red Dot”. Participants have until 8 February 2017 at the latest to submit their products. More

Red Dot Design Ranking 2016 for design concepts

The Red Dot Design Ranking 2016 honours enterprise and institutions which have continuously proven excellence in the course of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The ranking is based on a weighted formula considering the cumulative number and classes of awards received over the last five years. The Red Dot Design Ranking, which is released by the Red Dot Institute, consists of four honourary lists: for companies, design studios, universities in the Asia Pacific region and universities in the Americas and Europe. Successful exhibition opening: Red Dot winners demonstrate “La valeur du design” in France

On Wednesday, 14 September 2016, a new Red Dot exhibition opened in France. During a reception at the Cité du Design in St. Etienne, “La valeur du design” (“The value of design”) was on show for the first time. Until 8 January 2017, Red Dot awarded products from France and around the world inform visitors about the merits and value of good design. They demonstrate that the term “design” goes way beyond the surface. More

Awarded communication design: Mutabor, The Techno Creatives and SAP

Not long now: On 4 November 2016, the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design will be honoured in Berlin. On stage of the Konzerthaus Berlin the best of the best will receive their Red Dot Trophies. And it remains exciting until the very end: Only on the evening of the awarding ceremony, in the presence of 1,400 international guests, it is announced who will get the highest single distinction of a category, the Red Dot: Grand Prix. Xiamen International Design Week – Red Dot in China 2016

From 29 October until 1 November 2016, Red Dot brings the world of design to the International Conference and Exhibition Center of the South-East-Chinese metropolis Xiamen: For the fifth time in a row, Red Dot is the major partner and trade fair organiser of the Xiamen International Design Week (XIDW). Red Dot has been hosting the trade fair for premium products since 2012. With 300,000 visitors in 2015 alone, it has become an important platform for manufacturers and designers in the Asia-Pacific region. More

Outstanding design and its makers: drone “Xplorer”

Once a year, the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design awards objects with high quality design. In 2016, only 1.5 percent of around 5,200 entries received the highest distinction “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. It goes to the best products of a category, among them the drone Xplorer. Red Dot asked the jury what they particularly appreciated about the design of this drone, and talked to the designers Huang Xinshui and Li Mulin. More
