The Product Design competition has existed since 1954. Its award, the Red Dot, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

The competition for Design Concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the Red Dot: Luminary which includes prize money of SGD 5,000.

The highest award in the Communication Design competition is the “Red Dot: Grand Prix” for the best work in a category. The “Red Dot: Junior Prize”, which includes prize money of 10,000 euros, will be awarded to the best student work.

Design event of the year: Award ceremony, exhibitions and after-show party crown the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016

On 4 July 2016, the global design scene will come to Essen, Germany, to celebrate the best products of the Red Dot Award: Product Design. During the Red Dot Gala, which has been booked out for months now, the winners of the highest single distinction, the “Red Dot Best of the Best”, will receive their trophies on stage in the Aalto-Theater in Essen. Afterwards, designers, manufacturers and design fans will celebrate at the after-show party in the Red Dot Design Museum. Ticket sales for the Designers’ Night end on 1 July 2016. More

Red Dot jury session: The expert panel is ready

The registration period for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 has ended. Now, the jury session is just around the corner: Numerous works are waiting to be evaluated by the Red Dot jury. In a three-day process, the members of the panel analyse all entries with their expert view and decide which works will be honoured with the Red Dot this year. Part of the jury are among others the sound professional Rainer Hirt, packaging and branding expert Renne Angelvuo and jury newcomer Jiaying Han. More

"ag Type Specimen" – a typography masterpiece awarded with the Red Dot: Grand Prix 2015

In 2015, Ahn Graphics was awarded with the Red Dot: Grand Prix for the typography artwork “ag Type Specimen”. The renowned experts of the Red Dot jury stated: “This typography design traces the history and development of Hangul, the Korean alphabet, its development from Chinese characters and the establishment of traditional Hangul up until today. Published as five high-quality volumes, each with a clear design arrangement, the work has emerged as a creative and innovative solution which not only transports the traditional system into our time, but is also a pleasure to read and leaf through. More

Special exhibition in the German Museum Huelsmann: “International Packaging Design – Selected by Red Dot“

With “International Packaging Design – Selected by Red Dot“, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen presents a selection of projects that were awarded in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design, starting 8 June 2016. The exhibition takes place in the Museum Huelsmann in Bielefeld, Germany, and shows exklusive works that were honoured in 2015 within the category “Packaging Design“. It runs until 30 October 2016. Last chance to take part in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016

Designers and agencies only have until 10 June to submit their projects for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016. After that date, registrations for this year’s award year close. Communication designers and experts in marketing have the opportunity to test their mettle in 21 categories and see how they measure up in the eyes of the Red Dot jury. Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 – the jury continues to grow

In a few days, the registration period for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is ending. Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 - Further jurors confirmed

The next jurors for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 are confirmed: Among others, Holger Windfuhr, Creative Director at the WirtschaftsWoche, will once again support the jury with his know how. Having grown up in the USA, Holger Windfuhr studied psychology at the University of Michigan. Afterwards, he studied graphic design in Munich and completed the Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA program. He started his career as a designer at Focus. Later he switched to the German edition of Forbes. More
