The product design competition has existed since 1955. Its award, the “red dot”, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the “red dot: best of the best” award.
The competition for design concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the red dot: luminary which includes prize money of $5,000.
The highest award in the communication design competition is the “red dot: grand prix” for the best work in a category. The “red dot: junior prize”, which includes prize money of 10,000 euros, will be awarded to the best student work.

Project Sunshine for Japan - Connecting Traces of Memory
Earthquakes, flood waves, volcanic eruptions – humanity cannot influence those natural disasters. True to the motto “your colours can brighten up the land of the rising sun again”, Mansoureh Rahnama started the initiative “Project sunshine for Japan” after the devastating triple catastrophe in Japan in March 2011. From 9 – 21 March 2103, the exhibition “Project Sunshine for Japan – Connecting Traces of Memory”, which developed from this project, will be presented at the Depot Dortmund, Germany, together with an artistic installation.
