After the international design scene has celebrated the best designs of the year in Berlin in October 2013, a selection of the awarded communication projects will now be presented in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen: from 12 November 2013 to 5 January 2014 in the special exhibition “Selected works of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2013”. From 1 to 3 November the art fair contemporary art ruhr shows national and international contemporary creations in Essen, Germany. In the Red Dot Design Museum Essen and on the outdoor area of Zollverein World Heritage Site, visitors can encounter more than150 participants, among them famous art luminaries such as the Forum Kunst & Architektur, the Global Village Arts Association, or the KIRK Gallery. Against the setting of old industrial architecture, on an area of more than 5,000 square metres, institutions, art projects, -universities and -collections as well as selected C.A.R. talents gather. Sweden being guest at the Red Dot Design Museum: Nordic compositions in the special exhibition "Sweden at its best"
The Red Dot Design Museum presents the special exhibition “Sweden at its best: Red Dot Award-winning design from the North”. From 27 October 2013 to 2 March 2014, shapely products from the High North, which document the Scandinavian nation’s creative ability, are on show. All of them were honoured in the Red Dot Award – one of the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world, where Swedish designers regularly prove that they internationally belong to the best. In a playful way, two experience tours equip the young creative with design basics. This year, for the 24th time, UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein celebrates the huge colliery festival from 28 to 29 September 2013. Under the motto “1 world heritage / 1 district / 1 celebration” („ 1 Welterbe / 1 Bezirk / 1 Fest“), the industrial culture landscape presents a broad, exciting programme in which the Red Dot Design Museum Essen is also involved: besides a reduced entry fee of four euros during the weekend, it offers two free guided tours – for design fans and those who want to become it.
