Touching allowed – also on Mondays in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen

The Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany, is not a museum in the classical sense. It underlines this fact once again: Since it enjoys popularity, the house, located on the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein coal mine, opens its doors also on Mondays from 7 March 2016. Until 31 October 2016, the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design can be visited every day from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. More

Political happenings and personal experiences had a formative influence on the year 2015. In the exhibition, award-winning designers deal with this in a visual way. ll of the works will be sold in a limited edition. For domestic and abroad projects, the proceeds go to UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe. More

Insightful exhibition opening: “Tõnis Käo: ‘Design as Experiment’, Retrospective”

On the evening of 21 January 2016, the exhibition “Tõnis Käo: ‘Design as Experiment’, Retrospective” opened in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany. It is the first joint project of the Folkwang University of the Arts and the Red Dot Design Museum. Already in 2014, the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design in Tallinn had curated the exhibition. It shows an overview of the life’s work of Tõnis Käo, who is regarded as a pioneer in system design. More
