Design expert Professor Dr. Peter Zec will speak at the 31st International Design Management Conference

The Design Management Institute (DMI) is calling for registrations to the conference “Measuring and Building: Design’s Role in Business Success” which is held from 22 to 25 October 2006 in Manchester Village in Vermont, USA. Sixteen successful experts from the industry will discuss the role design should play in a successful business strategy today. Among the experts is Professor Dr. Peter Zec, the initiator of the red dot design award and president of Icsid, who is an internationally successful expert in the field of business and design.

In a global economy, design is becoming increasingly significant. Today more than ever before, businesses have to invest in design in order to survive the international competition. This year in October, the Design Management Institute will focus on this central topic and attempt to explore the significance of design from all angles with a group of experts from the industry. As a main connective theme for the conference, the DMI will provide topics which serve as guidelines for the speakers’ presentations.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec has many years of experience in integrating design in different business areas. He will be speaking on the topic “Searching for Excellence in Design”. Based on the success of the red dot design award, which has been initiated by him, Peter Zec will support the theory that design can contribute to a clear increase in value and thus greater success in the international market if it is incorporated in the business strategy as a fundamental factor.

The conference, which has been initiated by the Design Management Institute, is one of the most successful events in the field of design management and its results shall present techniques and strategies as well as open up new perspectives.
