Silhouettes are part of the most well-known folk arts in China. Very ancient finds originate in the sixth century, but supposedly the roots are much older. To promote this art abroad, it was linked to the aesthetics of the characters, figures and symbols of the Latin alphabet on the posters. The individual characters or figures were mirrored with each other or concatenated the sides being reversed left to right so that on the one hand a new ornamentation is created and on the other hand the art of silhouetting is illustrated.
