Staging all 37 plays by Shakespeare in one go would add up to about 120 hours of viewing time. This was too long for Americans Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield and thus, using excerpts, they wrote “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)”, for three actors and playable in one evening. These fragments were typographically adapted to the poster by cutting off parts of each letter, thus symbolising the abridgement. The missing parts of the letters, which are completed by the beholder, refer to the missing parts of the plays.
