Empty

(Poster)

red dot (junior award)
red dot award: communication design 2008

The poster presents a dignified monk with the Chinese character for “empty” on his face. This sign wants to symbolise the idea that in the course of time elder people become more and more aware of the truth of life as the years pass by. The facial expression of man per se resembles this Chinese character, while its individual shape allows conclusions about the depth of mind. The more man renounces adherences and desires the more free and “empty” his facial features become which is to become apparent in the monk.
