red dot award: communication design 2008

Due to the change of name as well as an expansion of its collection activities the German National Library required a redevelopment of its corporate design. The objective was to present the brand in a visually compact, superior and vital manner. In the development process vertical lines were created which convey the central tasks of collecting, archiving and organising in an abstract way. Varying distances and intense colours symbolise diversity. Furthermore, the lines can be interpreted as book spines or digital code. The use of a clear typography emphasises the institution’s authority as a national library.
