Ever more people realise that everybody should put more effort into solving the environmental problem, just as Stavros Dimas, the European Commissioner for Environment, had demanded, because every single person contributes to the emission of greenhouse gasses. Almost every day the subjects of climate change, environmental pollution and the greenhouse effect are covered in the media, and in general they don’t leave consumers feeling good: the predicted scenarios with regard to nature stoke fears and the shift to alternative resources and new regulations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions cry out for cutbacks and might even cost money.
It is a special challenge to address these highly complex topics with a positive lookout and to represent them in a way that makes active contribution to protect nature and the climate a pleasure. The “green” stamps aim at facing this challenge by presenting ten themes that show several possible contributions. The stamps are consciously kept simple and almost naïve in appearance in order to convey how anybody can help through a design of optimistic appeal. A limited colour palette together with the fresh slogan, “Think green, act green” help to get the message across concisely, distinctively and lightly. Both consumers and companies are thus confronted with the topic in a friendly manner.
