Jurors red dot award: communication design 2006

Leonardo Sonnoli

“The quality in the Editorial Design category was remarkably high, and a tendency is clearly recognisable: the designers regard brochures and annual reports as design products and thus include all aspects that belong to good design such as materials, form and colours, and design them consistently down to the last detail.”

Leonardo Sonnoli, born in Trieste, Italy, in 1962, studied at the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche di Urbino (ISIA Urbino) before working in the Tassinari/Vetta studio in Trieste, where he is currently a partner. From 1990 to 2001, he was creative director of the graphic design studio Dolcini Associati in Pesaro. In 2002, he founded the company CODEsign together with Paolo Tassinari and PierpaoloVetta. His posters have received several awards, among them the silver medal of the Toyama triennial competition in Japan and the Compasso d’Oro, and are part of international collections such as the Louvre in Paris and the museum of decorative arts in Zürich. Leonardo Sonnoli is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and lectures at the faculty of arts and design of the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV) in Venice.
