Neoplan Cityliner wins the red dot: best of the best

In this year’s red dot award: product design, the Neoplan Cityliner coach by the Neoman Bus Group has won the red dot: best of the best.  From 2,548 entries the internationally renowned jury of experts selected a total of 43 for the red dot: best of the best and awarded the sought-after quality mark for sophisticated and innovative design to the Neoplan Cityliner.

The Neoplan Cityliner combines advanced technology and a high level of customer benefits with futuristic design.  Its lines exude a simple elegance, in which the overall impression is characterised by the dynamic shape and expensive glass and paintwork.  The Neoplan designers Michael Streicher, Professor Andrea Lipp, Achim Burmeister and Stephan Schönherr, the Head of Design, have succeeded in creating a superlative development with the typical elements of a classic touring coach and have given their vehicle a modern, sharp look, which picks up on the new trend for luxury in the automobile sector.

Innovative design features, such as the driver’s window extending much further back, the “diamond section” of the ceiling profile above the side panels or the ergonomically sophisticated design of the interior convinced the red dot jury by the extraordinary quality of the design.  The imposing proportions, with the thrusting dynamic and the headlights modelled in clear glass emphasise the consciously sporty look of the coach.  The body of the coach has intentionally been reduced to the essential, the “sharp cut” design ensures a harmonious shape at the front and rear and imbues the vehicle with an elegant silhouette.
