Of J. S. Bach’s cello suites no original manuscript exists, only varying transcriptions. The design of the CD box reflects Gavriel Lipkind’s visionary and spiritual approach as well as his reinterpretation of the suites as a cycle. At the same time the design pays tribute to the music’s decidedly Baroque origin. This is the first piece of a special CD edition whose individual components were conceived as unique “objects of desire”. To meet necessary marketing requirements the individual elements are housed in a slipcase featuring a portrait of the artist. Each slipcase is designed to work on its own, yet also to maintain a visual consistency throughout the complete edition.
