The earpiece, shell and cord outlet of the MDR-EX55 stereo headphones are sheathed in elastomer to achieve a unified flow from the earpiece to the cord outlet, and to highlight the headphone’s compact dimensions. The smooth, sphere-shaped design appears to be a continuation of the earplug, which disappears into the ear when in use. The small number of elements and the clear contrast potentially allow for additional colour variations. Three different-sized silicone ear cushions for different-shaped auditory canals provide a perfect fit for any user’s ear. The headphones are available in black, white, blue and pink, with the white and pink models retaining the white earplugs. The MDR-EX55 is therefore suitable for both trend-conscious young users as well as those who prefer an unobtrusive product.
