The new Opel Astra is intended as a compact car which reflects the character of a premium class vehicle. In order to achieve this, proportions have been re-weighted: in comparison with conventional compact cars, the Astra has a very long wheelbase, resulting in an extremely spacious interior. The windscreen, drawn well forward, and the tail with its aerodynamic features give the automobile a dynamic appearance.
