Along with the S-Class, the CL-Class is the expression of a new Mercedes design language and thus the protagonist of a new aesthetic form. Based on the principles of modern purism with straightforward and clear forms it combines tradition with innovation. More strongly than hitherto, design accentuates an exciting interaction between concise, clear-cut lines and elegantly modelled, smooth surfaces. It lends the coupé expressiveness and enhances the superior calm and strength of its powerful essence. The character line articulates the upper third of the flanks and serves at the same time as a light break between concave and convex door surfaces. In the rear, this character line meets precisely with the tail lights, which are drawn far into the sides of the body and which continue this flowing line, conducting it gently downwards. The interior of the CL-Class conveys a feeling of luxury and a high sense of value.
