The design of the Tiguan shows the characteristics of a compact, agile SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle). The comparison with the Touareg model suggests itself, since the Tiguan adapts that model’s characteristic use of forms and design elements. The connection between the two models is made by the side window and the proportions of roof structure and body. Moreover, a characteristic element of the Tiguan is the emphasised bonnet, the traditional symbol of power and performance, which is otherwise not common in the compact car class. Other prominent features are the wheel housings, which do not embrace the wheel with a concentric circle, but with their angular openings provide it with clearance for off-road conditions. Available with two new TSI engines and a diesel engine, the versatile model with its many individual appearance options represents a high degree of comfort, agility and variability.
