Minimising risk The nursing personnel of hospitals and clinical practices in Europe alone hurt themselves over one million times every year while handling used needles and canulas. People working in intravenous therapy run the risk of being infected with diseases such as hepatitis or HIV, either via accidental contact with needles or by direct contact with tiny blood drips, an underestimated risk factor in daily hospital work. Against this background, the BD Venflon Pro Safety catheter has been designed as a multifunctional device for use in almost all areas that include handling human blood: intravenous therapy, blood sampling, administration of medication, or blood infusion. Due to its innovative safety concept, this catheter improves the standards to manage unexpected blood exposure. Various colours serve to indicate both different sizes and thus the application area of the catheter, and with its well-conceived concept for a wide range of applications this catheter can be used interdisciplinary in many different clinical areas. It is designed for use in various hospital departments, such as anaesthesia, radiology, emergency medicine as well as paediatrics. Due to its innovative safety technology as well as its clear and aesthetic language of form, the BD Venflon Pro Safety thus not only sets new standards in everyday hospital work – it also improves daily routine.
