The maintenance-free illumination unit with integrated mega-pixel camera and LED lighting is used on packaging machines for pharmaceuticals and guarantees highest packaging security. The unit’s function is to check the colour-faithfulness of tablets in blisters with regard to completeness and foreign particles. The upper casing includes camera and lighting, whereas the lower casing, which until now had to be removed on other appliances when changing over to other blister formats, is designed as protection against the light. With the new concept, the side parts are flapped inwards which accelerates machine change-over. The front flap allows the user fast access, and the casing is lightproof. The design is the result of a search for new constructional solutions and is intended to reflect properties of the system such as high quality, speed and reliability.
