This compact robot has been developed for arc welding, handling, assembly and the application of adhesives, sealants and preservatives. The design objective was to give the robot a robust, clear appearance in order to emphasise its capability to accelerate as well as its mobility. Organically designed, high-strength components give the robot a dynamic look, visually emphasising the device’s performance. In mechanical terms they provide high torsional and bending stiffness, which are important for precise and reliable operation. Smooth transitions between shapes have a positive effect on mechanical force transmission and increase agility. There are no decorative external elements; every component has its technical function. Housing elements are made of cast aluminium, reducing weight and increasing acceleration values. This shortens motion cycles and reduces energy consumption.
