The Masterpiece Squelette of Maurice Lacroix represents the development of a novel concept for skeleton watches. Its sapphire crystal dial exposes the skeletonised movements inside, satisfying the desire of enthusiasts to observe the inner life and movements of their watch. It reveals, for example, the turning of the rotating components and the transmission of energy from spring to balancing wheel, which normally remain hidden from view. The bridges of the watch display a surface refinement of black gold with a pink gold-plated bevelled finish – with contrast provided by the black, PVD-coated screws, the red jewels and the gold-plated wheels. The hands and the manually applied hour indices are also plated with pink gold to match the pink gold case and the hand-sewn crocodile-leather strap with the pink gold buckle. A titanium-coloured metal structure fitted under the crystal of the dial emphasises the small seconds and the minute ring.
