Frame stories Sports apparel and sports accessories are celebrated and presented on the catwalk very much like the classic haute couture. At heart these two areas can hardly be separated from one another – synergetic effects through newly developed materials or new forms are even intentional and highly welcomed. Yet, the design of sports items is also always subject to its own laws: they have to stand up under the harshest conditions. The ID2 goggle has been developed for snowboarding, skiing and mountain-biking and has distinguished itself above all through its innovative frame concept which consists of two fully separable frame parts: the front frame and the main frame. Due to this dual frame technology, the goggles are compatible with any helmet but may just as well be worn without one. In addition to their sporting and high-quality appearance, this technology ensures that the main frame always sits snugly on the face. Another interesting aspect of this sports goggle is to be found in the functionality and the materials of their ventilation concept, the ClimaCoolTM ventilation system. This ventilation system was adapted to the dual frame and is integrated into both the front frame and the main frame. The same ventilation system has been used for both parts of the goggles without losing on effectiveness. The use of nanotechnology for the two-layered foam plastic is also innovative. The microbiological characteristics of the foam guarantee good humidity management inside the goggles during extended use and, integrated into the rim of the goggles, simultaneously protects against snow and water. Additionally, to make the sports goggles fit for the conditions on alpine slopes, an extended nose arch gives extra protection against wind and sun – design for a high level of fun in the snow.
