The Tai-Chi Ball employs an innovative “ball-within-a-ball” concept. Its development is based on theories of early childhood education. The design and choice of materials indicates that the Tai-Chi Ball is more than just a toy; it is also a work of art. The look of the Tai-Chi Ball is based on the essential teachings of t’ai chi (a Chinese form of martial art): balance, symmetry and continuity. The toy is ergonomically and functionally well thought out. The transparent plastic material of the outer ball gives the user a different visual perspective when playing. The tracks in the ball have a smooth, rhythmic and continuous pattern which allows the user to improve his or her dexterity while using the ball. When using the Tai-Chi Ball, the body swings rhythmically with the ball, performing movements that resemble those made in t’ai chi. Thus, the ball stimulates the user’s eyesight and improves his visual tracking ability.
