The customary appurtenances of bath houses such as wooden casks, tubs and pails, provided the inspiration for the bathroom ceramics series which Philippe Starck has designed for Duravit. It lends further support of the suspicion that good forms are not invented, but discovered or rediscovered. In drawing on these archetypical objects, Starck has translated the given forms of water vessels, standardised over centuries, into the new material in a masterly fashion and without frills.
