Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen new member of BEDA
The Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen is a new member of the Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA). 42 member organisations from altogether 23 European countries now belong to the association, which was founded in 1969 and is based in Brussels.
BEDA promotes the cooperation of designers, design organisations and networks in Europe and furthermore, it acts as communication channel between European design associations and authorities. By communicating the value of design and innovation towards institutions of the European Union, BEDA has been pursuing the establishment of design as a key component of the European culture and economy during the past 40 years. On behalf of all 42 affiliated organisations BEDA will continue to stand up for public investment in all member countries at the responsible authorities and a united European design strategy in view of the Asian competition.
Jan R. Stavik, new president of the BEDA to serve for the period 2009-2011, welcomed the membership of the Design Zentrums Nordrhein Westfalen and three other design organisations: “These new members add to our knowledge and to our capacity to influence the development of design policy at the European level, in order to better position Europe’s industries to compete through design in a time of economic recovery.”
