State visit to the red dot design museum

Once again, the red dot design museum welcomed prominent visitors: the Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende and the Minister-President of North-Rhine Westphalia, Jürgen Rüttgers, visited the red dot design museum on Wednesday, 13 May 2009.

After being welcomed by Vito Oražem, member of the executive board of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, the visitors signed the guestbook. Then Vito Oražem gave the two guests a tour of the largest exhibition of contemporary design and presented red dot award-winning products from the Netherlands. Two Dutch winners, Bob van der Lee (Managing Director of the agency Total Identity), and Grant Davidson, (Chief Design Officer for Healthcare, Philips Design), introduced their award-winning works in a short presentation and explained the underlying innovative ideas. Finally, some students of the Institute of Political Science of the Duisburg-Essen University were given the opportunity to talk to Jürgen Rüttgers and Jan Peter Balkenende about the future of Europe in a 45 minute discussion that was not open to the public.
