DMY International Design Festival Berlin
This year’s DMY International Design Festival Berlin will take place from 3-7 June 2009. For the seventh time designers, experts, and those interested in design from around the world are invited to take part in this multifaceted event. More than 30,000 international visitors are expected at lectures, panel talks, workshops, performances and parties; more than 550 designers alone will take part in several exhibitions.
The opening of the established DMY Youngsters exhibition in the Arena Berlin, which presents experimental, innovative design of the young generation, will mark the beginning of the event on 3 June 2009. As part of the new DMY Allstars module professional designers and artist groups will, for the first time, be given the opportunity to present non-commissioned works. In addition, specially curated exhibitions of international design fairs and partner festivals will be on show. In future, the DMY Extended category will bring together events, self-initiated special exhibitions and open studios throughout the whole city. The best exhibits of the DMY Youngsters, Allstars and Extended modules will receive the DMY Award, which will be awarded for the first time this year by DMY Berlin together with the Bauhaus Archive Museum of Design. The winning works will be presented a second time, at the Bauhaus Archive Museum of Design from 8-31 August 2009.
DMY Berlin (Daily, Monthly, Yearly) was founded in 2003 and is a contemporary platform for young, talented and internationally renowned designers and creative producers. DMY Berlin sees itself as a contact partner for designers and consults design institutions as well as other festivals worldwide in the area of project development and implementation.
