Communication designers from around the world are creative like never before – and those interested in design can see this for themselves in Switzerland this spring. With the exhibition “Quality has a form. red dot presents: Excellent communication design in Basel” red dot presents in the exhibition area of the Basel School of Design from 13 April to 9 May 2010, the best communication design works that have won awards in the “red dot award: communication design 2009”. The festive vernissage will take place on 12 April 2010.

While over the years some design experts have appeared several times as members on the top-class jury and have thus become established jurors, every year there are always newcomers, who as part of they jury for the first time get to decide who the sought-after awards will go to.

Very special guests can currently be observed on the roof of a boiler in the red dot design museum: “Spacewalkers” by Dark NV bathe the impressive industrial architecture in mysterious red and green light.

The clock is ticking, and the deadline of 10 February 2010 for registration of your products for the red dot design award, one of the most important international design competitions, is approaching fast.

The red dot award: design concept enters a new round with much anticipation among designers, companies and institutions all around the world! Reflecting the imaginative and innovative strengths as well as the competitiveness in the design industry, the award continues to draw focus to the importance of being creative and innovative to thrive in the global market.

Young designers had the chance to register for a total of 50 free registrations for the upcoming red dot award: product design 2010. Even though this campaign only ran for 24 hours on the red dot website, almost 150 creative professionals from 24 nations applied, among them Argentina, New Zealand and Colombia. Due to the large response the winners of the 50 registrations had to be decided by drawing lots.

Good design doesn't just drop out of the sky. It comes from creative people that fight for their ideas and who work on their projects with passion. Over the coming weeks we would like to present a selection of the designers honoured by the red dot award: product design 2009.
