Special pieces of jewellery are no longer only exhibited at the design museum; they can also be purchased. As from now, each month a new jewellery designer will be presented in the museum shop.

On 2 March 2010, some 200 people came to the sold-out event on the method for calculating the value of design given by design expert and author Professor Dr. Peter Zec in Düsseldorf 's renowned "stilwerk" design shopping centre. Together with co-author Burkhard Jacob, director of the red dot institute, Zec gave an overview of the method of design value calculation and explained how design can increase the value of a company.

Communication designers from around the world are creative like never before – and those interested in design can see this for themselves in Switzerland this spring. With the exhibition “Quality has a form. red dot presents: Excellent communication design in Basel” red dot presents in the exhibition area of the Basel School of Design from 13 April to 9 May 2010, the best communication design works that have won awards in the “red dot award: communication design 2009”. The festive vernissage will take place on 12 April 2010.

From 8 April to 2 May 2010 the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany, will present the finalists and winners of the Dutch Design Awards 2009 in a special exhibition. he 2010 European Capital of Culture is one of the first stops of the international touring exhibition of the “best of the best” of Dutch design.

A completely new perspective for looking at design and business is now provided by the book “Design value – a strategy for business success”. The two authors, design expert Professor Dr. Peter Zec and Burkhard Jacob, for the first time present a method that makes it possible to measure the value which companies generate through design.

Once more the award competition has attracted record submissions, highlighting the high degree of design consciousness worldwide. Designers and manufacturers from 57 countries have submitted products for consideration, hoping to win one of the highly coveted design seals of quality, the “red dot”. Thirty international design experts from all over the world will travel to the 2010 Cultural Capital of Essen to assess thoroughly all the submissions on site.

The finalists and winners of the Dutch Design Awards 2009 will be on show in the red dot design museum in Essen. From April 8 through to May 2 the museum will host the ‘best of the best’ of Dutch Design, as part of an international tour of the exhibit, showing design by renowned designers as Studio Wieke Somers, Maarten Baas, Thonik, Philips Design, Gert Dumbar, Jelte van Abbema (young talent 2009), and many others.
