Bureau Mirko Borsche | Dennis Buchmann

The Bureau Mirko Borsche and Dennis Buchmann received the red dot: grand prix for their magazine "Human Global Coincidence".

Founded by Mirko Borsche in 2007 in Munich, the Bureau Mirko Borsche graphic design studio has produced many magazines, books, catalogues, posters, typefaces, films, websites, as well as corporate, industrial, fashion and exhibition designs, which won them many awards. Together with Johannes von Gross, David Henne and Alexis Zurflüh, Mirko Borsche currently works for clients such as Die Zeit, Thalia Theater, Philharmoniker Hamburg, Neue Sammlung München, Stefan Diez, Marta Herford and Kostas Murkudis. The idea for the magazine Human Global Coincidence was created by biologist and journalist Dennis Buchmann. As editor in chief he realised the concept in collaboration with the Axel Springer Akademie. The research of human-global coincidences, such as the Swabian from Rio who knows a boxer in London, who knows a radio engineer in Cameroon, who has a friend in the West Bank, etc., too was done by Dennis Buchmann.

Dennis Buchmann on “The visualisation of global connections”:
Each issue of Human Global Coincidence introduces six people from around the globe, people who are related to one another by chance. This red thread does not only show in the table of contents, but is also taken up by the bookmark spanning the issue – thus reflecting the design of the magazine. Six features – one red thread.
