About the “red dot award: communication design”
In 2000, the red dot award: communication design replaced the well-known German Prize for Communication Design. The highest accolade is the “red dot: grand prix” for the best work in an individual category. Furthermore, the “red dot: junior prize” worth 10,000 euros is awarded to the best student work. According to PAGE magazine, the competition, which has been held since 1993, is one of the most important international design competitions. Moreover, according to a recent study it ranks at the very top of the list of important design competitions for the corporate identity industry and its results are regarded as important orientation for decision-makers.
This has also been confirmed by the current number of entries to the red dot award: communication design. Last year’s 6,112 entries from 42 countries once again marked an increase in numbers compared to the previous year. The accolade, the red dot, has established itself as one of the most sought-after quality labels for good design internationally.
Being selective with communication becomes increasingly important in our modern society. The red dot award: communication design contributes to the fact that those who master the use of the many possibilities and know how to convey their messages in impressive snapshots will be recognised and receive an award for the high design quality of their works.
