Starting from now: Design jewellery in the shop of the red dot design museum
Special pieces of jewellery are no longer only exhibited at the design museum; they can also be purchased. As from now, each month a new jewellery designer will be presented in the museum shop. The designer Lena Huelsmeier from Pforzheim will lead the way. She studied at the School of Design in Pforzheim; she has been running her own studio since 2004 and was award winner in numerous design competitions.
Bracelets of fluorescent plexiglass, rings made from ribbon in a flexible hose, gemstones in a silver framework – Lena Huelsmeiers objects are captivating through their originality. Among them are lenticular photos created in connection with the issue “I spy with my little eye”. By changing the viewing angle two pictures appear alternatingly: Photographic images of diamond jewellery change through movements of the wearer or the viewer on the same object to become photographs of human parts of the body. The piece of jewellery itself, illustrations of the jewellery, and the illustrations of the body parts as well refer to the position of the worn jewellery.
The pieces of jewellery by Lena Huelsmeier will cost between 12 and 299 €; they are available at the opening hours of the museum (Tue – Thu: 11.00am until 18.00pm and Fri – Sun 11.00am until 20.00pm)
