Welcome to the fascinating world of design!
With about 2,000 exhibits, the red dot design museum houses the world’s largest presentation of contemporary design which is visited by about 180.000 international guests each year. The exhibition has a long tradition with its beginnings dating back to the mid-1950s.
On an exhibition area of approximately 4,000 square metres only current products are exhibited today; articles of daily use, many of which visitors will recognise and some of which they may even have at home. The exhibits share a very special feature that distinguishes them from other everyday items: namely their excellent design. The museum becomes experiencable as touching and testing most of the objects is allowed.
The best product design – from inventive USB flash drives to multifunctional stoves to a hanging helicopter – awarded by an international expert jury: On five floors the red dot design museum presents the complete range of shapely and highly innovative products. All of them were rewarded in one of the largest design competitions of the world – the red dot design award.
