New designer jewelry in the red dot design museum shop

Julia Miltenberger: that is the name of the jewelry designer who – thanks to her creativity – is the second designer to be selected to present her jewelry in the museum shop window. After training as a goldsmith, Julia Miltenberger studied product design with a specialization in jewelry design at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. She graduated in 2009 and has been a self-employed jewelry designer for a year now. Her jewelry was already on show at some exhibitions during her studies, and this year more and more of her work has also been displayed in Austria.

With everything from colorful summer pieces to glamorous gold and silver, the jewelry collection grabs visitors’ attention, calling to mind a style reminiscent of the modern 1950s.
The contrasting materials, colors and shapes used appear to create two different styles. While the strong statement made by the intensely colored neoprene pieces is emphasized by their size and their striking motifs such as fans or arrows, Julia Miltenberger keeps the more elegant part of her exhibition uncomplicated, enchanting the onlooker with simple shapes such as squares. Yet these apparent opposites are in fact not all that different, as can be seen from some of the pieces combining materials such as gold and neoprene in a harmonious interplay.

Prices for Julia Miltenberger’s jewelry range between EUR 15 and EUR 475. The items are on sale in the bookshop during the museum opening hours (Tuesday to Thursday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday to Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
