Prof. Dr. Peter Zec as design expert in Singapore

Quite recently one hundred academics, policy makers and design decision makers from companies arrived at the red dot design museum in Singapore for the design seminar "Design Value - A strategy for business success".

In this seminar, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, President of the red dot design award, presented his research, published in the book "Design Value", co-authored with Mr. Burkhard Jacob. He shares with the audience a new thinking of design as an investment rather than as a cost of doing business. He explained how design increases the value of both brands and companies and what we can learn from the best design teams, global market leaders and champions of design.

It was a most engaging session with participants fielding questions in the extended questions and answers session. Prof. Dr. Peter Zec delivered strong arguments for greater investment into design will create a business advantage, contributing to higher profitability. He also demonstrated how one can measure design investment using traditional tools that management understands such as ROI.

The audience were clearly excited by the new thinking and continued to surround Prof Dr Zec at the reception afterwards, asking many more questions and requesting advice.  Mr. Nav Qirti, Director of Chemistry, a branding and design consultancy in Singapore, sums up the excitement when he says "Normally, I have seen that after such talks, one feels motivated but there are not many takeaways.  Today, I received both, motivation and takeaways which we can use in selling design to companies."
