Design data base for Europe
The development as well as the specific cultural characteristics of European design are the main foci of the ‘European Design Network’ web-site, which was published on www.eu-design.net on 19 April, 2002.
The European Design Network is the first data base in this field on a European scale. The project is made possible by the co-operation of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen with the Museo di Castelvecchio in Verona as well as the Museum of Art and Design in Helsinki.
This high-quality data base is designed as an all-encompassing information pool. In future, European design developments from the end of WW II to the end of the nineteen-seventies will be easily understood with the help of the examples of Germany, Finland and Italy. Product photos and descriptions as well as subdivisions of the data pool according to countries, years or outstanding designers make it easy to use. Those interested in design can quickly get a detailed overview of the diverse styles of European design. Interviews with designers, various monographs as well as event tips complete the offer.
