Designing Success! – red dot in China: Award-winning product design inspires trade fair visitors in Shunde
The “Third China International Industrial Design Expo” at the Shunde Exhibition Centre in Guangdong province from 16-19 September 2010 was an attractive presentation platform for exhibitors from around the world to illustrate the essential role of good design as a value driver and distinguishing feature in global markets. The event is regarded as one of the biggest and most influential industrial design trade fairs and offered ideal conditions for a successful continuation of the “red dot on tour”. After stops in Dubai, Tokyo, Sydney, Seoul, Singapore, and Moscow, red dot continued its international involvement in Shunde taking into account the constantly increasing significance of China as a location for creative industries.
In the exhibition “Designing Success! – red dot in China”, selected winners of the red dot award: product design presented their award-winning products on an area of 500 square metres inspiring more than 70,000 expert visitors from all around the world.
The exclusive selection was not restricted solely to Western companies such as Apple and Dyson and top class automobile design with award-winning exhibits by VW and Mercedes-Benz, but also presented Chinese winners such as Haier and Lenovo.
“The products exhibited in Shunde provide an excellent cross section of the best of different design philosophies from East and West, while at the same time representing the remarkably high quality that characterises this year’s competition,” said the initiator of the red dot design award, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, who did not want to miss the exhibition and had therefore travelled to Shunde. “With ‘Designing Success! – red dot in China’ we were able to provide the winners of the red dot award with an adequate stage for the presentation of their creative expertise in one of the most promising growth markets of the future,” said Zec.
