BBDO receives highest possible design award
BBDO receives the highest possible honour in the “red dot award: communication design” – the title “red dot: agency of the year 2010”. Germany’s leading marketing agency will thus be acknowledged for their successful creative performance in designing brand experiences and their superior design achievements. In the past five years alone, BBDO received 34 awards of the international jury of the “red dot award: communication design”, among them seven “red dot: best of the best” awards. “By their creative performance and their results in the design competition BBDO confirms its outstanding quality in the designing of corporate and product brands,” says Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, managing director of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and initiator of the red dot design award, explaining why BBDO was chosen as agency of the year. “BBDO sets creative records on an international level as well,” says Prof. Dr. Zec.
Award ceremony on 8 December 2010
BBDO will be honoured on 8 December 2010 at the red dot design museum in Essen. Additionally, the Düsseldorf agency will receive another 19 awards: 14 times the “red dot” award and additionally 5 times the coveted “red dot: best of the best”. Together with representatives of the media, industry, and politics, about 1,000 guests of the international scene of designers and creative minds will be expected in the Capital of Culture. They will be present when the exclusive trophy, the Stylus challenge cup, will be handed over to BBDO.
Special exhibition from 9 December 2010 to 9 January 2011
After the award ceremony, all award-winning products of the competition will be presented in a special exhibition titled “Design on stage – winners red dot award: communication design 2010” at the red dot design museum. In a second special exhibition the newly chosen “red dot: agency of the year” showcases the agency. Both exhibitions will be open to the public at the red dot design museum until 9 January 2011.
BBDO was founded in 1956 by Vilim Vasata, Jürgen Scholz and Günther Gahren, then just named Team. In 1992 it was renamed BBDO. Today it is the nucleus and core of Germany’s largest agency network with national and international campaigns for clients and brands like Braun, Dr. Oetker, Iglo, Mars, Smart, and Wrigley. BBDO offers full service to the customers and realises integrated marketing concepts. At present the company is managed by Frank Lotze (CEO) und Anton Hildmann (Chairman).
The “international yearbook communication design 2010/2011”, the standard work for communication design, will be published in time for the award ceremony. Beside the presentation of the award-winning works, it contains a portrait of BBDO running over several pages , an interview with Frank Lotze, CEO BBDO Germany, as well as an interview with Sebastian Hardieck and Christian Mommertz, CCOs BBDO Düsseldorf.
