The “red dot award: product design” is entering a new round! As of now, designers and entrepreneurs from all around the world are again invited to enter their products to the red dot design award and face the demanding international comparison. In the 18 categories the competition now consists of, the jury made up of international design experts assesses the submitted products in direct comparison on site and awards a prize to the best design achievements. The results of the “red dot award: product design 2011” offer consumers valuable orientation in a confusing and sheer infinite range of products. And receiving a red dot, an internationally recognised quality seal, also serves as recognition and confirmation for companies and manufacturers which have recognised the significance of excellent design as a distinguishing feature and implemented it adequately.
In 2011, entries to the “red dot award: product design” will be adjudicated in 18 different groups. This year, the former “Architecture and interior design” category is for the first time split into the categories “Interior design” and “Architecture and urban design”. This additional differentiation enables further concentration of expertise, because for each product group experts are specifically chosen to assess the entries.
The jury’s decisions are also relevant to the respective industries. In the end, the results of a category reflect the industry’s future in terms of design and provide manufacturers, companies, and designers from around the world with important clues for the trends of tomorrow.
