Wolfgang Baum studied graphic design in Munich where he is currently the managing director of the Academy U5 and lecturer for visual communication. After internships in typesetting and printing, he worked for a record company before he became active as freelancer for book and magazine publishers as well as advertising agencies and TV stations. 1983–1990 he was president of the Association of German Graphic Designers and 1986–1996 assistant professor for communication design at the Bavarian Academy for Advertising and Marketing (BAW) in Munich. Wolfgang Baum is a committed juror in various expert committees and as chairman of the Professional Association of German Communication Designers, Bayern Group, among others. He works as freelance communication designer and is also a member of the professional associations BDG, ADG, DT, BDW and ICOGRADA.
