Red Dot in China 2016
From 29 October until 1 November 2016, Red Dot brings the world of design to the International Conference and Exhibition Center of the South-East-Chinese metropolis Xiamen: For the fifth time in a row, Red Dot is the major partner and trade fair organiser of the Xiamen International Design Week (XIDW).

Among others, the agency 22quadrat, the Beetroot Design Group as well as the artist Yadegar Asisi can be glad about a distinction with the Red Dot label.

“La valeur du design”: Red Dot exhibition opened in France
On Wednesday, 14 September 2016, “La valeur du design” (“The value of design”) opened in St. Etienne, France. Until 8 January 2017, Red Dot awarded products from France and around the world inform visitors of the Cité du Design about the merits and value of good design.

“Making a Difference / A Difference in Making”
The Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany will present the exhibition “Making a Difference / A Difference in Making” from September 27 to October 30, 2016. The collection brings together pioneering 3D-printed works of art, design, engineering and science. The exhibition is curated by Marta Malé-Alemany, architect and recognized researcher in the field of digital fabrication technologies, and produced by Materialise, a 3D printing company based in Belgium.

In a few days, the registration period for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is ending. Only until 10 June, designers and agencies can enter their best projects and face the judgement of the Red Dot jury. The international gremium decides on which works are awarded with the quality seal of the design indutry, the Red Dot. Part of the jury are: Sylvia Vitale Rotta, Eric Chang, Michel de Boer and Niels Schrader.

On 4 July, the international design scene gets together in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany. On that evening, around 1,800 guests celebrate the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016 at the Designers' Night. The aftershow party offers the opportunity to network and invites the guests to discover the best products of the year.

The new conference series initiated by the software company solidThinking takes place in the SAANA building in Essen, Germany and creates a platform for creative exchange.

The next jurors for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 are confirmed: Among others, Holger Windfuhr, Creative Director at the WirtschaftsWoche, will once again support the jury with his know how. Having grown up in the USA, Holger Windfuhr studied psychology at the University of Michigan. Afterwards, he studied graphic design in Munich and completed the Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA program. He started his career as a designer at Focus. Later he switched to the German edition of Forbes.
