In February, 39 experts from all over the world convened in Essen to assess thousands of objects for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 in a process spanning several days. Only designs that won over the jury with their high design quality were awarded the sought-after distinction “Red Dot”, and the best of them received the highest award “Red Dot: Best of the Best” – among them: the lighting system “Alphabet of light” by Artemide, designed by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group.

The heart of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is the jury. With its expertise, it assesses thousands of submissions each year on the basis of established criteria. In 2017, there are 24 globally recognised experts who meet in Essen, Germany, to jointly decide in a multi-day process about the awarding of the coveted label “Red Dot”. Some of these experts are repeatedly part of the jury. Among others Uwe Melichar, Damon Aval, Gustavo Greco and Holger Windfuhr will select the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017. The “Latecomer” registration phase runs until 9 June 2017.

The participation period of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 ends on 9 June. Agencies, designers and companies from all over the world are currently called upon to submit their well-designed and creative works and projects from the field of communication design. A total of 18 categories are available for participation, one of them is “Online”. In 2016, the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines campaign “iFly50” and the website “*noa – network of architecture” were awarded by the Red Dot Jury.
