Global brands in competition
The manufacturers and designers who took part in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 have put themselves forward for a global comparison with future-oriented thinking and self-confidence. Thousands of global brands and medium enterprises entered their products into a competition for one of the world’s most distinguished awards – the Red Dot. After a successful jury session, the independent assessment by the specialists shows how the product designs performed in a current and international comparison. The winners will officially be announced on 29 June 2015, the day of the Red Dot Gala.

Winning the Red Dot opens the doors for manufacturers and designers to a worldwide network and offers exclusive options for communicating their success. The numerous winners’ privileges are the usage of the Red Dot winner label, the presentation of the product at Red Dot Online, in the Red Dot Design Yearbook, in the Red Dot App as well as at Red Dot 21, and the exhibition of the award-winning products in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, Germany.

Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2015
Providing a wider platform for innovation
At the moment, up-and-coming talents, designers, companies and universities from all over the world have the opportunity to enter their design visions in the competition and put their whole creative potential to the test. 2015's best design concepts and prototypes will emerge from a total of 31 concept categories. These are deliberately wide to ensure limitless imagination. With the introduction of two new categories, designers are encouraged to think beyond the conventional list to define new innovations and explanations.

Smart apps, impressing posters or attention-attracting advertising films – all communication works which are on show in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, Germany, until 3 May 2015 have one thing in common: their award-winning design. The special exhibition “Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2014” presents the latest Red Dot awarded creative achievements from around the globe.

Taiwanese Design Faces
A special exhibition which focuses on the creative minds behind award-winning designs is presented in the Red Dot Design Museum Taipei until 29 March 2015. “Taiwanese Design Faces” tells stories – about five Taiwanese designers. The presentation introduces the people who create innovative products, convince manufacturers to produce these, and who give advice and support during the whole development process, from the idea to the finished good.

The American entrepreneur Henry Ford once said: “Every object tells a story, if you know how to read it.” Inspired by this quote, the exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story” grants exciting peeks behind the scenes of design and shows how award-winning design is characterised. Until 31 May 2015, visitors of the HKDI Gallery in Hong Kong can experience the exemplarily selection of designs from various living environments and discover what is hidden under the surface.

For one entire year, hundreds of young designers wait for one special day in the Red Dot Award: Product Design, which could provide the essential impetus to their professional future: Every year, the Young Professionals Application Day offers 50 free registrations for up-and-coming talents in one of the most renowned design competitions in the world. On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, Red Dot has increased this number to 60: Young designers can apply for the free registrations on 10 December 2014.

The two-volume International Yearbook Communication Design 2014/2015 is hot off the press and gives an overview of the status quo of current communication design.
