The expert jury has chosen - the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 have been announced

They tested, assessed, criticised and discussed. After a jury session spanning three long days, the team of experts had reached a consensus: the best products of 2014 have been chosen. A record number of designers and companies from all over the world took part in this year’s competition by submitting their innovations for the renowned design award that is the Red Dot. With 4,815 entries, the Red Dot Award: Product Design received the highest-ever number of entries and at the same time added some new countries to the list of participants. More »

PROUD Forum “Design for societal challenges”

On Thursday, 8 May 2014, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen is organising the PROUD Forum “Design for societal challenges”. Experts from around the world will give insights in new design tools and methods and assess their potential in terms of their productive and social value. During the morning, lectures by renowned keynote speakers introduce current approaches, developments and opportunities in English. Günter Wermekes is nominated for the design of the “Tang Prize” medal

Günter Wermekes – jewellery designer, Red Dot juror and responsible for the Red Dot Trophy: At the suggestion of Red Dot he is now chosen as one of the candidates to present the design of the “Tang Prize” medal. In 2013, the Red Dot Trophy was awarded at the gala of the Red Dot Award: Product Design, for the first time. On July 2014, on stage of the Aalto-Theater in Essen it will be given to the winners of the Red Dot: Best of the Best again. More »

Red Dot Award: Design Concept - Winner “Flexita Grater” to be sold in stores

In 2012, Ely Rozenberg was awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best for Flexita Grater, a food grater that transforms from two to three dimensions. It simply flattens when not in use and molds into a handy grip when needed. Crafted from harmonic steel, the metal that has a ‘memory’ and returns to its original flat shape after bending. The concept has since developed into a product and is now available in the market. More »
