The early bird registration phase for the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2015 has started. A message from Prof. Dr Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, to the start of the globally renowned competition for communication design.

The manufacturers and designers who took part in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 have put themselves forward for a global comparison with future-oriented thinking and self-confidence. Thousands of global brands and medium enterprises entered their products into a competition for one of the world’s most distinguished awards – the Red Dot. After a successful jury session, the independent assessment by the specialists shows how the product designs performed in a current and international comparison. The winners will officially be announced on 29 June 2015, the day of the Red Dot Gala.

Ruhr Museum and Red Dot Design Museum Essen present first joint exhibition
60 years of award-winning design in Essen, Germany - On the occasion of this anniversary, the Ruhr Museum and Red Dot Design Museum Essen are presenting an exhibition on 60 years of design history in Essen. The initiators of the anniversary show, Prof Dr Peter Zec and Prof Heinrich Theodor Grütter, are pleased about the realisation of this first cooperation of the two large museums at World Heritage Zollverein and about their prominent supporter: The President of the German Bundestag, Prof Dr Norbert Lammert, will assume the patronage of the exhibition “Enduring, not ultimate form”.

At the moment, up-and-coming talents, designers, companies and universities from all over the world have the opportunity to enter their design visions in the competition and put their whole creative potential to the test. In a few weeks, the jury will be presented with the first round of entries, to make a selection for the final judging.

Smart apps, impressing posters or attention-attracting advertising films – all communication works which are on show in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, Germany, until 3 May 2015 have one thing in common: their award-winning design. The special exhibition “Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2014” presents the latest Red Dot awarded creative achievements from around the globe.

Designs with a story – in the exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story”
The American entrepreneur Henry Ford once said: “Every object tells a story, if you know how to read it.” Inspired by this quote, the exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story” grants exciting peeks behind the scenes of design and shows how award-winning design is characterised. Until 31 May 2015, visitors of the HKDI Gallery in Hong Kong can experience the exemplarily selection of designs from various living environments and discover what is hidden under the surface.

The branding of the Berlin branch of one of the most famous and largest advertising agencies in Germany may strike some as odd at first. Not “Scholz” but “Heiduk” was projected onto the imposing building facade in huge digital letters. But that was simply because it was the turn of Christin Heiduk, a consultant of the firm, to gain some exposure. In fact, in keeping with the “friends” credo of the legendary founder Jürgen Scholz, every employee got to enjoy the own 30 minutes of fame at one point.

The annually international organised Red Dot Award: Product Design has been awarding products of good design quality for 60 years now. In its anniversary year, 31 categories provide space for the growing number of submissions. To be up to the product variety, Red Dot invited experts from different areas of expertise: Robin Edman, Professor Renke He and Wen-long Chen, who specialised in fields like households and kitchens, are part of the Red Dot jury 2015.

Being the central event platform at the Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW), the MCBW FORUM provides the perfect setting for the exchange of ideas between experts, design professionals and the interested public. It is the perfect location for the Red Dot Design Museum Essen to present “Formosa Forms”.

The registration phase of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 is over and the jury out of 38 internationally renowned experts is preparing for the jury session. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovations”, the committee will come together in Essen, Germany, to award the best products of the world. Every year, the Red Dot jury is regrouped and its members are in charge of specific product categories due to their specialised knowledge. New members of the expert group are among others Oliver Stotz, Lam Leslie Lu and Rüdiger Bucher.

Red Dot in Basel enters the next round – From 7 to 23 March 2015, Red Dot again presents the best works of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design in Switzerland. The exhibition “Design auf dem Podest”, for the fifth time in the design city of Basel, shows all 101 works awarded with the Red Dot: Best of the Best or the Red Dot: Grand Prix in the last year’s competition.
